Description and characteristics of VTP, VTC, VTM, VTA, VTG turbine pumps

Vertical turbine electric pump family consists of 4 series having one common feature – mechanical transmission design, column panel construction, effective pump body. The design universality allows application of a wide range of design solutions and use of various materials to fulfill customer’s requirements.

VTC Model

Single- or multistage centrifugal electric pumps with radial or radiaxial shrouded impellers designed for operation with a high head. 

VTM Model

Single-stage centrifugal electric pumps with radiaxial semi-open or shrouded impeller designed for overfeeding, middle or high pressure.

VTA Model

Single-stage electric pumps with axial impeller designed for high pump outputs and low head.

VTG Model

Vertical turbine electric pumps integrally geared with shaft output at right angles to the electric pump axis. They are designed for operation with various mechanical drives. They are used mainly in areas without electricity.

Design features

The pump body consisting of impellers and diffusers is designed to provide heads and flows required for a system with the highest efficiency. The VTP electric pumps can be multistage that increases their universality both when selecting an electric pump and when electric pump modification is required to increase its capacity. During operation the pump body is completely submerged in water that allows pump start without preliminary filling.

Wide range of materials allows selection of a suitable electric pump for the most severe operation conditions. All models of VTP electric pumps conform to safety, efficiency and reliability requirements, and minimum maintenance costs requirements as well.

VTC, VTG vertical turbine electric pumps

Design features

  1. An outlet nozzle with internal diameter of 10” or more. They are used for pumping high temperature fluids
  2. Application of a shaft with external washing pipe used for operation with abrasive medium is provided
  3. A convenient column section centering system and simple assembly of a transmission shaft reduce costs for installation, simplify maintenance and reduce out-of-service times
  4. Transmission shaft of AISI416 steel. A sleeve coupling ensure rigid connection of two shafts
  5. Various materials for sleeve bearings are available
  6. Removable shaft sleeves or hard facing provides its long-term service
  7. Dual wear rings for impellers and diffusers. Wear surfaces with hard facing are available for ensuring long-term service. Wear rings can be washed in case of particulates in fluid

VTM, VTG vertical turbine electric pumps

Design advantages

  1. An optimal design of the diffuser and impeller ensures maximum efficiency. A semi-open or shrouded impeller with or without wear rings is used
  2. Transmission shaft of AISI416 steel. Transmission shaft coupling of all sizes is available for easy maintenance. A design with a shaft protected by washing pipe is available
  3. Various materials for sleeve bearings are used according to operational conditions
  4. A sleeve coupling closed by seal rings ensures stainlessness
  5. The shaft has internal opening for washing of the sleeve bearing of the pump body

Design features

  1. A single-stage electric pump with axial impeller with self-cleaning blades
  2. Application of a shaft with external washing pipe used for operation with abrasive medium is provided
  3. A wide range of hydraulic characteristics ensures the best selection of the electric pump for the relevant operational conditions
  4. Transmission shaft of AISI416 steel. A sleeve coupling consisting with a joint coupling, lock rings and seal rings rigidly connects two shafts and is corrosion protected.
  5. Bearings of various materials can be used according to operational conditions
  6. A wide range of materials for pump body which are corrosion resistant and abrasion resistant
  7. The adaptable design for application in systems with a pressure branch pipe installation above surface (surface flow) and with a pressure branch pipe installation below surface (underground flow)

Thrust bearing assembly

In case of vertical motor with solid shaft - driven VTP electric pump, the thrust load will be born by the thrust bearing at the upper part of the electric pump or the thrust bearing in the motor. Two types of bearing assemblies can be supplied for high or low thrust load.

Nsc double-entry pump application

  • Industry: water for cooling systems, rain water pump off, cooling towers, and etc.
  • Pulp and paper industry: primary and secondary treatment systems, regeneration water supply, mixing units
  • Public utilities: pump stations for water supply and disposal, water for washing units, waste water, contaminated water
  • Electrical power generation: hydraulic facilities, cooling towers, component cooling system, technical water supply
  • Offshore application: ballast water transfer, cooling water, fire-fighting systems
  • General: river water, salt water, fire-fighting systems, water supply and sewage facilities
  • The electric pump may be designed as an explosion-proof pump API610 BB1 for oil refining and petrochemical industry, and gas industry as well.

  • Connecting dimensions are according to NEMA standard;
  • Four-inch motor of stainless steel;
  • Connecting flange of bronze or stainless steel:
    • single-phased: 0.37—1.5 kW
    • three-phased: 0.37—7.5 kW
  • Six-inch motor of stainless steel, connecting flange of cast iron (of stainless steel under order):
    • three-phased: 4—37 kW
  • Eight-inch motor of stainless steel, connecting flange of cast iron (of stainless steel under order):
    • three-phased: 5.5—75 kW
